English:

A detox is a natural process in which a dog (or a person) eliminates toxic substances that accumulate in the body daily. These waste products are the result of normal cell processes or the intake of toxins (poisons) through air, water, or food. Unfortunately, our environment is quite polluted, which means that we and our dogs ingest a significant amount of these unwanted substances. For example, through the air we breathe or the water we drink. Even food can contain substances that are harmless in small doses but can accumulate in our liver or kidneys. There is increasing evidence that an excess of toxins in the body can lead to chronic health problems.

Supporting Natural Detoxification

The liver, kidneys, and digestive system continuously work to cleanse our bodies and remove waste products. This is the natural detox process that both humans and dogs always have in place. Unfortunately, this does not mean that detoxification always goes smoothly. If one of the organs involved in natural detoxification is not functioning well or is overloaded, toxins can accumulate in the body. This can then cause illness or discomfort. That’s why it is often recommended to help the body twice a year with a detox. This is done using a herbal extract including turmeric, artichoke, boldo, fennel, and milk thistle. Scientific studies show the cleansing effects of these herbs. It also improves fat digestion through the gallbladder and flushes the kidneys during such a course.

Stressful

But be careful: A detox with a herbal course is taxing for the dog's body. The detox requires energy, and the released waste products can cause mild symptoms.

Symptoms during a detox can include:

  • Temporarily reduced absorption of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals;
  • Energy loss and fatigue;
  • Nausea and vomiting;
  • Existing conditions may worsen.

Detox Only for Healthy Dogs!

Because a detox can be taxing, it is only suitable for healthy dogs! Do not give a detox if: • Your dog is ill • Your dog has just had a deworming treatment • Your dog has recently undergone surgery • Your dog is weakened • Your dog is old • Your dog is very young • Your dog is pregnant

Autumn: the ideal season to give your dog a detox!

Detoxing, or cleansing the body of the dog and getting rid of toxins, is something we recommend doing twice a year. Both in the spring, but also in the autumn. In this blog, we will explain why detoxing is advisable in the autumn.. What happens during a detox? Detox, drainage, cleansing. All different terms, but all meaning virtually the same thing. Over time, a dog builds up toxins in the body. This is due to, for example, car exhaust fumes, toxins from microorganisms, food, drinking water, and also from illness and/or medication. These toxins accumulate in the body, including in fat tissue, and cause the entire body and organs to function less well. You can think of it as a clogged drain. A detox ensures that these block...

A detox boosts the immune system and ensures that the liver and kidneys can function optimally.. Engels: Every day, our dogs are exposed to various toxic substances. For example, through air pollution or contact with unwanted substances in the soil and water. But waste products also form through processes within the body's cells. The body can often eliminate these substances on its own, thanks to the liver, kidneys, and digestive system. If this process goes smoothly, there’s no problem. But if there is a buildup or blockage somewhere, it can cause a drop in immunity or health issues. Itchi...
