Functioning of Schisandra in horses
Schisandra is an Asian, hardy climbing plant that winds around tree trunks. The female plant produces bright red berries that have a sweet-sour taste, while the seeds are bitter, salty, and pungent in taste.
The berries with seeds are used for their medicinal properties, they are harvested after the first frost and then dried in the sun. The berries are rich in lignans, essential oils, and organic acids.
Schisandra for the body
When dealing with fatigue, lack of energy, or stress, Schisandra can have a positive effect. It actually enhances the body's adaptability to changes. It also acts as a tonic (strengthening and supportive) for the physiological processes in the body. It improves mental and physical performance.
Schisandra protects the liver from damage, promotes liver function, and helps the liver in its recovery.
