Working of sunflower in horses
Sunflower oil is widely used in horses as a source of fat. However, due to the absence of omega 3 fatty acids, sunflower oil is not recommended as an energy source. The ratio of omega fatty acids is out of balance. Sunflower oil contains only omega 6 and omega 9 fatty acids.
However, sunflower is a good source of plant protein (without lysine). In humans, sunflower seeds are used in rheumatic conditions due to their anti-inflammatory properties.
