Phosphorus (P) in horses

In total, a horse has about 8.6 grams of phosphorus per kilogram in its body. Similar to calcium, the majority of phosphorus is found in the bones (about 80%). But muscle tissue and liver cells also contain a lot of phosphorus.

Phosphorus is important for bone strength, but also plays a major role in digestion through bacteria.
