The pansy is native to the Netherlands and has now spread all over the world. The plant grows to about 40 cm in height and is very recognizable by its 3 colors: purple, lilac, and yellow. From the 16th century, the pansy was used for its medicinal properties. It was used as a remedy against fever and seizures in children, but also for loosening phlegm. The entire above-ground plant is used for its medicinal properties. It is rich in mucilage, flavonoids, and phenolic acids. In addition, the pansy contains Vitamin E, Vitamin C, and K.
