Cat's claw in horses

Cat's claw can only be found in tropical countries as it requires a tropical/rainforest climate. It is a (creeping) climbing plant that wraps around trees like a vine and can grow up to 50 meters long.

For its medicinal properties, it is important to use the pure species of Uncaria Tomentosa, as there are species that resemble cat's claw and have a similar name but do not have the medicinal properties.

Scientific name:

Uncaria Tomentosa

Type:

Climbing plant

Effects of cat's claw in horses:

  • Increases resistance

  • Anti-inflammatory

  • Blood purifying

  • Antioxidant

Cat's claw for resistance

The inner bark of cat's claw is dried and used for its medicinal properties. Cat's claw is especially suitable for its great immune-enhancing properties. It has very strong antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Cat's claw increases the number of T-lymphocytes and B-Lymphocytes which then act as natural killer lymphocytes (attacking pathogens in the body) stimulating specific and nonspecific immunity.

Due to the anti-inflammatory properties of cat's claw, the immune system is also further supported. This also helps normalize the immune system in allergic reactions.

Cat's claw is also known for its blood purifying, antioxidant, and external disinfectant properties.
