Can you combine different dog supplements?

Sometimes problems in dogs are complex or there are different health issues at play. Especially older dogs often benefit from multiple dog supplements to support their bodies. But can you combine different products?

Combining supplements is usually possible

Generally, it is not a problem to combine different dog supplements. Mixing different brands is usually not a problem either. Try to avoid duplicate ingredients as much as possible to avoid giving too much of certain substances. Also, be selective in what you choose, as you preferably don't want too much sugars (e.g. dextrose, sorbitol) or other fillers in the supplements, as these fillers have more of a negative effect than a positive one.

Try to give a maximum of 3 supplements

It is perfectly fine to give multiple dog supplements at the same time, but try to limit it to a maximum of 3. The dog's body must be able to absorb and process everything. If you give more supplements, there is a chance that only part of it will be absorbed and the rest of the product will be excreted from the body through urine and feces. If you still want to give multiple products, try to alternate! For example, give one supplement in a cycle of 6 weeks and then switch to another supplement.

Salmon oil is always a good choice!

A supplement that is always a good option and does not interfere with the absorption of other supplements is salmon oil. This healthy oil is therefore not only multifunctional for the skin, brain, and joints, but also a good flavor enhancer for picky eaters.

If it doesn't help, it might harm!

Always be critical of your supplements and never just give something for the sake of it! Because the statement "if it doesn't help, it won't harm" is never applicable. Even supplements based on natural ingredients can have negative effects. Therefore, never give something without careful consideration, research, and advice! You can always contact us to discuss whether a supplement is suitable for your dog.
